ARTIST'S STATEMENT

Art is a seduction.  It can take on many forms.  The artist is seduced -- by a flash of inspiration, a moment of insight, a dream that won’t let go.  My goal as an artist is to continue the seduction, drawing those who are receptive into that which seduced me.

I have chosen metal as my main medium of expression.  I also work with stone, glass and other materials.  Recently I have begun combining these materials.  Now the seduction begins anew.

Over the last decade my work has integrated reflective light, kinetic motion, sound, fluid shapes and sensual form.  The materials and methods of construction I have chosen give permanence to my dreams.

My journey to this point has taken me down many roads.  As an artist, I find myself drawing upon all of my varied experiences.

While in college I restored Porsche sports cars.  Later, I turned my attention and tools to antique Harley, BMW and Indian motorcycles.

A number of those restored motorcycles received national recognition in judged competition and have been acquired by private collectors.  One fully-restored 1953 Indian Roadmaster was awarded as a prize in the Marlboro “Best of the West” Sweepstakes national advertising campaign.

My main vocation for nearly 25 years has been designing, marketing and installing large-scale air pollution control equipment for industrial and municipal projects.  As president of my own firm since 1987, I have supplied hundreds of tons of steel in the form of functional equipment to clients all over the western United States.

My career highlights include several patented inventions and participation in the development of innovative technologies now in widespread use around the world.
